Submit a new text
Basic requirements
- Texts must be pre-20th century works in Chinese.
- Texts must be input using traditional characters.
- Texts must follow a published edition.
Format
- Texts will be added automatically using minimal formatting. If possible, please prepare texts using a text editor such as Notepad (included in Microsoft Windows) or TextEdit (included in MacOS X) rather than a word processor such as Microsoft Word (which may alter punctuation characters). Any formatting such as bold, italics, font, etc. will be ignored.
- Titles - please indicate the title of a chapter (篇) by placing an asterisk (*) immediately before the title. Please leave at a blank line before and after the title.
- Paragraphs- please leave a blank line after each paragraph to indicate paragraph breaks.
- Commentary - if the text is a commentary on another text, or uses large and small characters to distinguish between two types of entry, please use braces "{" and "}" to enclose all sections of text which are original/printed in large characters.
- Rare characters - if you encounter a rare or unusual character which you are unable to input, please do not substitute any other character, but instead enter a detailed description of the character enclosed within square brackets "[" and "]". For example, if you are unable to enter the character "䎜", you could instead enter "[左老右老]".
- Author - if the work is a collection of the works of multiple authors (for example, a collection of poetry), please indicate the author of each chapter enclosed in carets "<" and ">" immediately after the title. For example, "<李白>". This is not necessary if the work is not attributed to multiple named authors.
