17  | 張尚書邦奇，李公東陽門人也。一日侍坐，有興化守者亦公門下士，以覲事至京，緘兩帕四扇，令從吏饋公。公曰：『扇以染翰，固可，但多帕奈何？』吏頓首於庭。乃啟緘取扇，而歸其帕云。公致政後，邃庵楊閣老載酒肴過懷麓堂為壽，觴以金。公訝曰：『公近亦有此器耶？』邃庵有慚色，自是不敢用以觴云。耿子曰：『公仕宦五十餘年，柄國且十有八年矣。』鄭端簡謂，公卒之日，不能治喪，門人故吏，醵金錢賻之，乃克葬。又謂，嘗過其門，蕭然四壁，不足當分宜輩一宴會之費云。彼時權璫狂猘，公卿鮮不受其螫者，而卒不敢有加於公。公豈有權術牢籠之哉！毋亦貞操潔履，有以服其心耳。 |
