《卷十九志第九 樂一》
42  | 民之生，莫有知其始也。含靈抱智，以生天地之間。夫喜怒哀樂之情，好得惡失之性，不學而能，不知所以然而然者也。怒則爭鬥，喜則詠哥。夫哥者，固樂之始也。詠哥不足，乃手之舞之，足之蹈之，然則舞又哥之次也。詠哥舞蹈，所以宣其喜心，喜而無節，則流淫莫反。故聖人以五聲和其性，以八音節其流，而謂之樂，故能移風易俗，平心正體焉。昔有娥氏有二女，居九成之臺。天帝使燕夜往，二女覆以玉筐，既而發視之，燕遺二卵，五色，北飛不反。二女作哥，始為北音。禹省南土，嵞山之女令其妾候禹於嵞山之陽，女乃作哥，始為南音。夏后孔甲田於東陽萯山，天大風晦冥，迷入民室。主人方乳，或曰：「后來是良日也，必大吉。」 |
