124  | 鉤弋夫人之子弗陵，年七歳，形體壯大，多知，上竒愛之，心欲立焉。以其年穉母少，猶與久之，欲以大臣輔之察羣臣，唯奉車都尉、光祿大夫霍光忠厚，可任大事。上乃使黃門畫周公，負成王朝諸侯以賜光。後數日，帝譴責鉤弋夫人，夫人脫簮珥叩頭，帝曰：「引持去，送掖庭獄」。夫人還，顧帝曰：「趣行，汝不得活！」卒賜死。帝閒居，問左右曰：「外人言云何？」左右對曰：「人言且立其子，何去其母乎？」帝曰：「然，是非兒曹愚人之所知也。往古國家所以亂，由主少母壯也。女主獨居驕蹇，淫亂自恣，莫能禁也。汝不聞呂氏邪，故不得不先去之也」。二年春二月，帝如五柞宮，立弗陵為皇太子。以霍光為大司馬、大將軍，金日磾為車騎將軍，上官桀為左將軍，受遺詔輔少主。帝崩，上病篤，霍光涕泣問曰：「如有不諱，誰當嗣者？」上曰：「君未喻前畫意邪！立少主，君行周公之事！」光頓首讓曰：「臣不如金日磾！」日磾亦曰：「臣外國人，不如光，且使匈奴輕漢」。乃立弗陵為皇太子。明日，命光、日磾及上官桀受遺詔輔少主，與御史大夫桑𢎞羊皆拜臥內牀下。又明日，帝崩，入殯，未夹前殿。 |
