1  | 林文忠公則徐深惡鴉片煙，道光戊戌，奉命為廣東欽差大臣，嚴禁之，悉燒英商所有者，遂啟戰釁。其初盛時，僅行於閩、廣，繼而各省並皆漸染。其公班土出明雅喇，白皮出孟買，紅皮出曼達喇薩。烏土為上，即公班白皮次之，紅皮又次之。紅皮則以花紅為上，油紅次之。出嗎喇及盎叽哩者，名鴨屎紅。文忠有和鄧嶰筠制軍韻《高陽臺》詞，蓋即燒鴉片煙時所作也。詞云：「玉粟收餘，金絲種後，蕃航別有蠻煙。雙管橫陳。何人對擁無眠？不知呼吸成滋味，愛挑鐙夜永如年。最堪憐，是一泥丸，捐萬緡錢。春雷欻破零丁穴，笑蜃樓氣盡，無復灰然。沙角臺高，亂帆收向天邊。浮槎漫許陪霓節，看澂波似鏡長圓。更應傳絕島重洋，取次迴舷。」 |
