2  | 按：賊曹主盜賊事，而盜令君車蓋，正如周亐為召陵侯相，廷掾憚其嚴明，欲損其威，而晨取死人斷手足立寺門，是姦猾之吏與令為戲者也。有以勝之，則其黨皆畏戢；無以勝之，則其黨皆侮玩。故昌初無所言，猶兵法「初如處女，敵人開戶」也；掩取得之，猶兵法「後如脫兔，敵不及拒」也。此其所以勝姦之術也。夫一車蓋，亦何所直？嘗試縣令，人必非遠。察其情狀，猶涉疑似；驗其物色，遂見端的。於是掩取，理無不得也。昌發姦伏，可謂有術。然悉收其家，一時殺戮，則殘酷已甚矣。此乃前代長吏法許專誅之過也。今但取其察姦之術耳。酷吏之事，善人所惡，何足道哉！ |
