18  | 寺僧無計奈何，內中有一僧，法名辨悟，開言對大眾道：「寺中僧徒不少，非得四五十石米不能度此荒年。如今料無此大施主，難道抄了手坐看餓死不成？我想白侍郎《金剛經》真跡，是累朝相傳至寶，何不將此件到城中尋個識古董人家，當他些米糧且度一歲？到來年有收，再圖取贖，未為遲也。」住持道：「相傳此經值價不少，徒然守著他，救不得飢餓，真是戤米囤餓殺了，把他去當米，誠是算計。但如此年時，那里撞得個人肯出這樣閒錢、當這樣冷貨？只怕空費著說話罷了。」辨悟道：「此時要遇個識寶太師，委是不能勾。想起來只有山塘上王相國府當內嚴都管，他是本山人，乃是本房檀越，就中與我獨厚。該卷白侍郎的經，他雖未必識得，卻也多曾聽得。憑著我一半面皮，挨當他幾十挑米，敢是有的。」眾僧齊聲道：「既然如此，事不宜遲，只索就過湖去走走。」 |
