史李克曰：居視其所親，富視其所與，達視其所舉，窮視其所不為，貧視其所不取，史魏世家互見致察。舉世混濁，清士乃見。史記伯夷傳。肥義曰：「正臣難至而節見，忠臣累至而行明，同上趙世家。淮隂，黥布等皆已誅滅，而何之勲爛焉！蕭何世家天下昏濁，忠臣乃見，魏王豹傳。狗盜雞鳴，孟嘗君列此二人，於賔客盡羞，及有秦難卒，此二人救之。孟嘗君傳：互入兼收並蓄已上並史記。劇孟愽徒母死，客送䘮千餘，乗此亦有過人者，西漢袁盎傳。不遇盤根錯節，何以別利器後漢虞詡傳。王祥之薨，奔赴者非朝廷之賢，則親戚故吏而已，門無雜吊之賔。晉書本傳。王湛曰：「直行平路，何以別馬？唯當於蟻封」。晉紀、鄧粲傳。唐李夷簡彈楊憑，坐貶，臨賀尉徐晦獨至藍田與別。後夷簡薦晦為御史，晦曰：「平生未嘗望公顔色，公何從而取之？」夷簡曰：「君不負楊臨賀，肯負國乎！通鑑互見狥公忘私。當一生一死間而後見其節，唐元徳秀傳。疾風，知勁草板蕩識誠臣。唐太宗賜蕭暢詩，見本傳。李世勣常侍宴，上從容謂曰：「朕求羣臣可托孤者，無以踰公。公往不負李宻，豈負朕㦲！」通鑑：唐太宗。馬文舉曰：「不遇勍敵，何以顯壯士！」同上。
