吳世忠，字懋真，金谿人。少頴發，以易魁●治二年鄉試，明年，第進士，擢兵科給事中。謇諤自許急時之要，嘗勘事大同，還條上諸邊守備，詞意懇惻，他如請褒表革除、死難諸臣，論外戚夀寜侯，不宜與百姓爭庄田，劾真人張●、慶、左道䮦恣，宜裭其爵，及論救吏部尚書王恕，皆人所難言者，出為湖廣㕘議，厯陞光祿尚寳少卿、大理寺丞，至右僉都御史，廵撫延綏，以病乞歸，所著有《學庸通旨》、《太極圗解》、《洪範考疑》等書，及自輯其奏議若干篇，題曰《蠢愚錄》。
