120  | 趙憬，字退翁，渭州人。志行峻潔，不自衒賈。李泌薦之，憬占奏明辯。貞元中，左丞缺，帝曰：「趙憬堪此」。遂以命之。精治常道，以國本在選賢，節用薄賦歛，寛刑罸懇，為天子言之。又陳前世損益當時之變，獻審官六議云云。帝皆然之。性清約，位台宰，而筆室童獲猶儒先生家也，得廩入，先建家廟而不營産。其鎮湖南也，令狐峘、崔儆。 為部刺史不守法，彈治之，皆遣客暴憬失於朝。及為相，乃擢用峘、儆，人以為賢。 |
