沈進《嘉興府志》：字山子，嘉興人，與同里朱彛尊日以詩篇酬和，鄉人目曰「朱沈」。未幾，復與周篔賦古今詩合一帙，鄉人復以「周沈」目之。游京師，歸自號知退叟，居藍村半巢，教子讀書，手自抄録，陶然自適。所著有《文言㑹萃》、《行國録》、《東園詩》、《藍邨稿》、《半巢居稿》、《退叟行吟》、《力圃蕭閒詞》、《袁溪文稿》，共三十餘卷。子翼居喪盡哀，甘露降於堊廬，人稱其孝。

周篔《嘉興府志》：字青士，與里人王汸、褚標、蘭谿范路海、寜朱一是諸人相倡和。朱彞尊《周篔傳略》：嘉興人，遭亂，棄舉子業，就市㕓賣米。有括故家遺書，連船，載以鬻者，篔買得一船積樓下，每日中交易箕筥斗斛，權衡滿，肆撥亂書，糠□中，吟誦不輟，為古今詩，超超抜俗，不輕襲前人片語，有《采山堂集》二十四卷、《詞緯》三十卷、《今詞綜》十卷、《析津日記》十卷、《投壺譜》一卷。
