後唐天成二年八月，中書門下奏：「據新授尚書左僕射李琪狀：『准舊例，上事日合有恩賜百官酒食，具載開元禮文者。』尋下太常禮院檢開元禮，祇有從太師已下至六部尚書、太常卿、太子詹事、諸衛大將軍、京兆河南牧、上州刺史，受冊拜廟，各就本司禮上，無中書門下送上之文，亦無恩賜酒食之事。又檢禮閣新儀，並不載諸品大臣上事禮例，唯僕射初上見羣寮輕重之禮。惟元和六年御史中丞竇易直奏，七年尚書左丞段平仲奏，太和四年中書奏覆，下太常禮院並尚書省詳議，終未能定。大凡禮上為領本司公事及與官寮相會，並受人吏參賀，內外無異，前後皆同。李琪尋會羣僚，不稱新授，已領公事，已請料錢，更引上儀，即非通制。今請李琪任便赴省，發遣公事。今後文武兩班受恩命者，不計高卑，未領事不得擅落新授字，及便請料錢。內廷學士、中書舍人，不在此限。」從之。

乾化元年十二月，以尚書左僕射楊涉知禮部貢舉，非常例也。前代自武德、貞觀之後，但以考功員外郎掌之。至開元二十五年，員外郎李昂為貢士李涯所詆毀，由是中書奏請以禮部侍郎專焉。間或以他官領，多用中書舍人，及諸司四品清資官。惟會昌中命太常卿王起主貢舉，時亦檢校僕射。
