十二月，劉放執帝手作詔，免燕王宇等官。《放傳》曰：宇性恭良，陳誠固辭，帝引見放資，入臥內，問曰：燕王正爾為？放資。對曰：「燕王實自知不堪大任故耳」。帝曰：「曹爽可代宇否？」放、資因賛成之。又深陳宜速召太尉、司馬宣王，帝納其言。放、資既出，帝意復變，詔止宣王勿來。尋更見放、資曰：「我自召太尉，而曹肇等反，使吾止之。命更為詔。帝獨召爽與放、資俱受詔命，遂免宇獻、肇、朗官」。按陳壽當晉世作《魏志》，若言放資本情，則於時非美，故遷就而為之諱也。今依習鑿齒《漢晉春秋》、郭頒《世語》，似得其實。
