劉裕至下邳，以船載輜重，重，直用翻。自帥精銳步歸。帥，讀曰率。至山陽，聞何無忌敗死，慮京邑失守，卷甲兼行，卷，讀曰捲。與數十人至淮上，李延壽《南史》作「江上」，當從之，蓋裕至山陽則已渡淮也。問行人以朝廷消息。行人曰：「賊尚未至，劉公若還，便無所憂。」裕大喜。將濟江，風急，衆咸難之。裕曰：「若天命助國，風當自息；若其不然，覆溺何害！」溺，奴狄翻。卽命登舟，舟移而風止。過江，至京口，衆乃大安。夏四月癸未，裕至建康。以江州覆沒，表送章綬，詔不許。綬，音受。

春正月，《考異》曰：《宋·本紀》：「正月癸巳朔，日有食之。」《宋紀》「二月己巳」，《宋略》「二月癸巳」，李延壽《南史》「二月己卯朔」，皆誤也。按《長歷》，是年正月丁巳、二月丁亥朔，《後魏書·紀》、《志》，是年無日食，今從之。魏改元始光。
