17  | 高季興，本陝州硤石人。為太祖裨將，出為郢州防御使。時荊南成汭征鄂州，不利而卒，太祖命季興為荊南留後。到未幾，會武陵土豪雷彥恭作亂，季興破之，遂以功授荊南節鉞。莊宗定天下，季興首入覲，因拜中書令，封南平王。初，季興嘗從梁太祖出征，引軍早發，至逆旅，未曉，有嫗秉燭迎門，具禮甚厚。季興疑而問之，對曰：「妾適夢有人叩關，呼曰：『速起，速起，有裂土王來。』及起，盥漱畢，秉燭開門，而君子奄至，得非所謂王者耶？所以不敢褻慢爾。」季興喜，及來荊南，竟至封王。 |
