以郊祀加恩故也。時御史臺辟石介字守道，兖州奉符人為主簿，介未至，論不當，求諸偽國，後坐罷。館閣校勘歐陽修遺書責中丞杜衍曰：「主簿于臺中非言事官，介足求履臺門之國，已用言事，見罷度介之才，不止為主簿，直可為御史。今斥介而他舉，亦必擇賢。夫賢者固好辯，又有言，則又斥而他舉乎？如此，則必得愚闇懦黙者而後止也」。衍不能用字。歐陽修，字永叔，廬陵人。杜衍 世昌，越州山陰人。
