18  | 壽隆二年，復上書曰：「宋歐陽修編《五代史》，附我朝於四夷，妄加貶訾。且宋人賴我朝寬大，許通和好，得盡兄弟之禮。今反令臣下妄意作史，恬不經意。臣請以趙氏初起事跡，詳附國史。」上嘉其言，遷禮部郎中。 |
| 1 | 耶律乙辛張孝傑耶律燕哥蕭十三《春秋》褒貶，善惡並書，示勸懲也。故遷、固傳佞幸、酷吏，歐陽修則並奸臣錄之，將俾為君者知所鑒，為臣者知所戒。此天地聖賢之心，國家安危之機，治亂之原也。遼自耶律乙辛而下，奸臣十人，其敗國皆足以為戒，故列於《傳》。 |
| 2 | 貴賤位而後君臣之分定，君臣之分定而後天地和，天地和而後萬化成。五帝三王之治，用此道也。三代而降，臣弒其君者有之，子弒其父者有之。孔子作《春秋》以寓王法，誅死者於前，懼生者於後，其慮深遠矣。歐陽修作《唐書》，創《逆臣傳》，蓋亦《春秋》之意也。 |
