1  | 姚襄字景國，戈仲第五子，雄武多才藝，能明察，善撫納，士民愛敬之，咸請為嗣。仲以襄非嫡，不許。石祗僭號，以襄為使持節驃騎將軍、護烏丸校尉。晉遣使拜襄持節平北將軍、並州刺史、即丘縣公。戈仲薨，率戶八萬，南至滎陽。晉處襄於譙城。遣五弟為任，單騎渡淮，見豫州刺史謝尚，一面交款，便若平生。揚州刺史殷浩憚其威名，遣謝萬討，襄逆擊破之，鼓行濟淮，屯於盱眙。朝廷大震，襄方軌引北，自稱大將軍、大單于，據許昌。自許遂攻洛陽，逾月不克。晉征西大將軍桓溫，自江陵伐襄，溫至伊水，襄徹圍之，為溫所敗。襄奔還洛陽，率數千騎奔於北山，百姓隨襄者四千餘戶。襄尋從北山，將圖關中，進屯杏城，遣輔國將軍姚蘭略地城，苻生遣苻飛龍拒戰，率眾西引，與苻堅戰於三原，為堅所殺。時年二十七，萇僭尊號，追謚魏武王。 |
