十七年，餘祭卒。餘昧立四年卒。欲授位季札，季札讓，逃去。曰：「吾不受位明矣。昔前君有命，已附子臧之義。潔身清行，仰高履尚，惟仁是處，富貴之於我，如秋風之過耳。」遂逃歸延陵。吳人立餘昧子州于，號為吳王僚也。
